Oct '22 Research Paper ๐Ÿ‘ถ

This month we welcome our community to Noala Club, all about Speech Sounds. This free online CPD session highlighted 3 research papers, also available in our library.

โ€

โ€Research papers:
  1. How are speech sound disorders perceived among children? A qualitative content analysis of focus group interviews with 10โ€“11-year-old children
  2. A systematic review and classification of interventions for speech-sound disorder in preschool children
  3. Applying evidence to practice by increasing intensity of intervention for children with severe speech sound disorder: a quality improvement project

โ€

Key takeaways:
  • Children often progress better with a higher session intensity.
  • A clicker can be a fun and engaging way to keep track and hit speech sound targets. Getting increased trials in for consistency.
  • Understanding it from a qualitative perception and the emotional side from the speakers point of view, we ask ourselves, is a lack of motivation a form of self protection?
  • โ€

We would love to hear from you! Feel free to share your experience working with speech sounds with the Noala community and be welcomed to join our next free Noala Club online CPD session all about DLD & co, 18 October
